13 Things Everyone Wishes They Could Ban Right Now

How often have you and your friends casually debated laws you wish you could enact if you were thrown into power? Most of these laws are trivial at best, erasing a minor pet peeve we most recently discovered.

Still, some of these laws would help society immensely. Whether you agree or not, these are some of the trivial acts people would ban if they were allowed to do so.

Excessively Loud Cars and Motorcycles

Nothing gets my blood boiling behind the wheel more than a car or motorcycle flying passed me with a muffler that sounds like I’m being sucked into a jet engine as they pass me by. Not only is it annoying, but it becomes a safety hazard as I try to comprehend what is going on, keep my car on the road, and let my blood pressure return to normal.

Just have a normal exhaust pipe. No one is impressed by how loud your vehicle is. And, if you do feel the need to rev your engine, do it when you are far away from family homes and other people.

Put an Age Restraint on Social Media

There is an argument for both sides of social media. Yes, it helps people stay in touch, share information, and drive business, but there are some serious side effects that can come with any kind of social site.

That being said, I am not in favor of banning social media; I, and many other Americans, would like to see an age restriction to sign up. Putting an age limit of 18 could help our children stay focused in school and avoid unhealthy standards that many influencers and celebrities portray on their social media accounts.

Loud Speakers on Hikes

Have you ever planned a day hiking in nature, only to have it ruined by some self-entitled individuals blasting their own music through a Bluetooth Speaker? That is a surefire way to kill your mood and make you want to pack up and head home.

Whenever this happens to me, I want to ask the perpetrator why they don’t believe in headphones. They cost less than $20 bucks, and you can listen to your horrible music without annoying the rest of the hikers on the trail. Seriously, be aware of your surroundings in public spaces.

Price Gouging on Medications

Medication advancements should be made to help the population, not to become rich. Suppose a medicine can help save millions of lives. In that case, it should be given to the public for a reasonable and widely affordable price.

Patients should never go bankrupt for a pill that can be easily obtained. I’m sorry pharmaceutical companies, helping aid the American population is more important than lining your pockets.

Advertisements Everywhere

Marketing executives have cleverly found ways to advertise their products on almost anything. From billboards to buses to the sides of buildings and social media sites, products are shoved down our throats constantly. Many people are saying enough is enough!

Listen, we get that you are trying to drive business. But, a giant billboard for a new hair removal brand is blocking a beautiful landscape. Can we all agree we would rather see that on our daily commute?

Scammers Receive More Punishment

Every day, it seems like there is a new scam that involves getting another person’s identity and bank information. Many of these scams are aimed at the elderly who aren’t privy to modern-day technology and con artists. This type of crime is despicable and needs harsher consequences.

Prying on the weak for personal gain requires a more substantial punishment. If I had the power and others agreed with me, these cheaters would be behind bars for a long time.

Parents Using Their Kids on Social Media

Social Media is making another appearance on this list. Still, this time, people are declaring their annoyance with parents using their kids for monetary improvements. Reddit users believe that these parents who force their children to dance, sing, or make any type of content for their pages are simply using them for profit.

Listen, we can do this now. Let’s just stop paying attention to these people, stop visiting their sites, and stop commenting. This will help before we have someone with the power to do so.

Crowded Airplane Seats

Air travel has continued to spiral downward in the last decade. Ticket prices have soared, and airlines love to gouge you for simple things, like checking a bag, reserving a seat, or enjoying an in-flight snack. Not to mention, the seats are getting smaller and smaller, so they can add a few extra rows to the cabin.

Enough is enough. Airplanes should have enough room for a human of any size to stretch out and feel comfortable. Sure, they might make less yearly, but airlines make more than enough money to ensure passengers are relaxed throughout the flight.

Excessive Packaging

Most Americans have jumped on the bandwagon of online shopping sites like Amazon. They are incredibly convenient, and many shipments arrive within 24-48 hours. Still, most shipments have so much packaging that they turn our home into a swaying plant.

Why do we need so much padding and cardboard for a package of paper towels and cleaning products? Every time I get an Amazon package, it takes two trips to bring the excess packaging to the recycle bin. Seriously, there has to be a better method.

Children Beauty Pageants

Whoever had the idea to dress up little kids in adult costumes and make-up had some serious guts. I know these pageants have a niche following, but the rest of the country thinks they are bizarre. Why do the little kids need to look like Dolly Parton mini-mes? Why can’t they show off their talents and look like an 8-year-old?

I’m sorry if I am way off here. But, these pageants are weird, and I can’t imagine they have a positive effect of little kids.

Over-Complicated Applications for Jobs

I remember a time when applying for a job was easy. You went to a business, filled out a form, or dropped off your resume, and hopefully, you would land an interview. Nowadays, it is so much more complicated.

Today, most applications are online. Now, I understand this is easier. However, it gets very frustrating when I upload my resume only to fill out the past 10 years of my employment through an application. Why can’t you just accept my resume, which tells you the exact same thing as a 10-page application?

Millionaire Politicians

Politicians and government workers should serve the citizens and improve the population’s lives. While I agree they should be compensated, it doesn’t make sense for them to be multi-millionaires.

Many Americans believe that millionaire politicians are out of touch. On a local level, I would agree. If politicians were closer to the people they need to care for, it could help the overall health of many communities in the United States.

Home Owners Associations

Is there a clause in an HOA advisor’s employment package to be as power-drunk as possible? I have heard countless horror stories of HOA supervisors harassing tenants for the dumbest reasons possible.

I understand the need for HOAs, but can we overlook some things? Can I decorate my home the way I Like it? Can I leave up my Christmas nights on last week? Seriously, if it doesn’t harm you or your family’s health, why are you making it such a big deal? Please leave us alone and focus on keeping the pool clean and the lawn green.
