Why I Switched To Buncha From Instacart

Grocery delivery has been a lifesaver for me. I’m a busy mom and since I’ve returned to work after maternity leave I feel like I have no time to actually get to the grocery store anymore.

A few months ago I started seeing other moms in my local mom group mention a new local delivery service called Buncha (formally Pikup) and decided to give that a try. I was having constant delivery issues with our regular delivery service Instacart and wanted to find a service a little more reliable.

I’ve been using Buncha for a few months now and am hooked!

I’ve now completely switched from using Instacart to Buncha and in this post, I’ll share with you everything you need to know about this new service, how it works, and more.

What is Buncha?

Buncha (formally Pikup) is a delivery app that delivers groceries and take out to your home.Unlike other apps, Buncha does what they call “drops” where each neighborhood will have a day where they’re in the area delivering groceries from a certain store or restaurant.

By doing this, it allows them to keep their prices low since they’re not making multiple trips to different neighborhoods and stores and it’s also more environmentally friendly.

Buncha also helps you save money by not charging a subscription fee – each delivery is only $1.45 and I’ve found that prices in the app are the same as what you would find in the store.

They also don’t have a minimum order amount so you can order as little or as much as you need.

How Buncha Works

When you log into the Buncha app you can see what days and times they’ll be delivering groceries and take-out in your area.

Click on the store you want to order from then you can start shopping like you normally would. It’s really easy! If they don’t have something you’re looking for you can also include a note for the shopper and the shopper will try to find it.

So far my shoppers have been amazing and have been able to get all the special items I’ve requested!

Once you’re done shopping, you can check out and have the option to add a tip.

If you forget something you can go back into the order and add it on too, which has saved me so many times with items I’ve completely forgotten to add until after I complete my order. Whoops!

On delivery day, you’ll get a text when Buncha is on their way (usually about 10 minutes out) and even get a tracking link.

The shopper will drop off your order at your door and you’re all set!

Buncha Review

I’ve been using Buncha for a few months now and love it! I mostly use Buncha for our Costco orders (we have a membership but you don’t need one to use the app) and have had a really great experience.

In the past, I used to rely on Instacart for our Costco delivery but it seemed like every single time we’d have an issue with our delivery – either bad produce, missing items, or a few times our orders would get delivered to a completely different house and Instacart would have to redo our order!

Instacart support was always good about resolving our issues, but it was just getting really frustrating.

With Buncha, we haven’t had any of those issues. The produce has been fresh, the shoppers have been great about getting all our special requests, and our orders have always arrived on time with no problems.

The only downside to Buncha is that they only do drops on select days each week so it’s not as flexible as other delivery services, but for us, it works out perfectly since we usually do our Costco orders every few weeks.

If you’re looking for a new reliable delivery service, I highly recommend giving Buncha a try. We’ve had a great experience with it and we love to support local businesses!

Buncha Delivery Area

Buncha is currently available in the Twin Cities and metro area but they are rapidly expanding! Here’s a current map of their service area.

Store List

The stores available on Buncha will vary depending on your area, but for my area the stores currently available are:

Costco

Cub

Top 10 Liquors

Aldi

Lunds & Byerlys

Pizza Karma

Target

Vesuvio’s

They’re always partnering with new businesses too so this list changes every few weeks!

Promo Code

Since writing this review Buncha was kind enough to offer a discount code! Use the code COFFEE for $15 off your order of $50 or more for first-time customers.

Final Thoughts

I’m really happy with Buncha and think they’re doing a great job. I love that they’re a local company, the prices are fair, there’s no subscription fee, and they’re environmentally friendly.

It’s so nice to have one less errand to run each week!
