I Ordered the New Peloton Tread!

After thinking about it for a while, I ended up buying the Peloton treadmill this week!

I originally was planning to try to wait it out and get the Tread+ when it was re-released, but after talking to Peloton support I found out that they’re not planning to release an updated Tread+ any time this year. After looking into it a little more, it looks like they might not be re-releasing it until closer to 2023 based on some Facebook discussions I found about the CPSC having issues in the overall design of the Tread+. Ugh!

Picking Tread vs Tread+

I’ve had my heart set on getting the Tread+ for the longest time, mostly because of the slat belt. At one of my old gyms, they had Woodway treadmills that also have slatted belts and I couldn’t believe just how much of a difference they made when I ran. It was like running outside with a ton of support for my knees and ankles.

But after talking with support and my husband, I started to think more about getting the Tread. My old Profrom treadmill is almost 10 years old and starting to give out, and I know I’m going to need something for this winter. I also know that I love Peloton running, hiking, and boot camps so really want something that can automatically connect to Peloton and give me an output number.

We’re also almost (FINALLY!) done with our basement renovation and my new gym room is just about ready to go. After measuring and doing the virtual reality viewing (which is a really neat feature on Peloton’s site so you can virtually see the Tread in your room) – my husband and I decided it was a good idea to get the Tread for now since it would fit into our new workout room better than the Tread+ would.

So last night I went on and ordered the Tread!

Buying the Tread

Buying the tread was super easy. I went on to Peloton’s website and was able to select the Tread package I wanted. Since I already have weights, a yoga mat, and the other accessories I decided to just buy the tread on its own. I wasn’t able to use my referral code since I didn’t buy an accessory package, but that’s alright since I don’t need the extra stuff anyway.

Once I selected the Tread I was brought to the checkout screen and given an option on how to pay. I’ve been financing my bike through Affirm so decided to add this to the loan.

Financing

Once I selected that I wanted to finance the Tread through Affirm, it sent me to their site to complete the loan. I was shocked at how fast this part went! Since I had an account, they asked for my phone number and they were able to pull up my account. I just had to verify my address and that was it – in under a minute, it approved me for my loan.

They then collected payment information for the monthly payments, which start in a month from the date I ordered – regardless if the tread arrives by then or not. You can choose to do either a debit card or checking account and can change it to a different payment method at a later date.

Once that’s set up you’re all set! The Affirm page refreshed and brought me back to Peloton and said my order was complete. I also got an e-mail confirming my order and that Peloton would be in touch to schedule delivery.

Tread Delivery

I ordered the Tread last night and haven’t received an e-mail yet on when I can schedule a delivery. On their website, they say that estimated delivery in my area is anywhere between 2-4 weeks but based on what others are reporting on Facebook and Reddit delivery might be a little quicker.

I’m hoping to get my delivery e-mail next week and will continuously update this post as I go through the process of getting the Tread delivered. My Tread arrived! Click here to read about my delivery experience!
