What is Puppy Chow?
Puppy Chow (also known as monkey munch, muddy buddies, or reindeer munch) is a dessert snack that is believed to have originated in the Midwest. Unlike a traditional chex mix recipe that’s savory, this s’mores puppy chow is a sweet dessert.
It’s a really popular party dessert because it’s so delicious and simple to make. Chex now even makes a packaged version of it called Muddy Buddies in stores!
Ingredients
To make this recipe you’ll need:
5 cups Golden Grahams cereal, divided
4 cups Chex cereal
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup Nutella or peanut butter
1 cup powdered sugar
2 cups mini marshmallows, divided
How to Make S’Mores Puppy Chow
Pour the powdered sugar into a gallon freezer bag and set aside.
In a medium bowl, combine the chocolate chips and Nutella (or peanut butter).
Stir and microwave for 30 seconds. Stir again, and put back into the microwave for 30 seconds. Stir again and put in microwave for another 20 seconds
In a large bowl, combine 4 cups of the Golden Grahams and all the Chex cereal
Mix 1 cup of marshmallows in the chocolate and Nutella mix.
Pour the chocolate mix over Golden Grahams and Chex. Mix well until the cereal is coated in the chocolate mix.
Pour the cereal mix into the freezer bag, close, and shake until the powdered sugar coats the cereal. Fold in the remaining Golden Grahams and marshmallows.
Spread the mixture onto a lined baking sheet and allow to cool 5-10 minutes.

Add in some crushed candy canes for a fun Christmas mix
How to Serve S’Mores Puppy Chow
Puppy chow can be served in a large bowl or you could put it into little cups or bowls. I like to use muffin liners to serve it at parties!
How to Store Leftovers
Leftovers should be stored in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
I do not recommend freezing any leftover S’mores Puppy Chow
