What are Baked Onion Strings?
Baked onion strings are an easy side or topping that’s made with onion, spices and a little parmesan cheese. They’re easily made in the oven or air fryer!
Ingredients
To make this recipe, you’ll need:
- 2 large sweet onions (Vidalia), cut into strips
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1/4 tsp paprika
- 1/8 tsp crushed red pepper
How to Make Crispy Onion Strings
- Preheat an oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with non-stick aluminum foil.
- In a medium mixing bowl combine the cut up onions, olive oil, parmesan cheese, paprika and crushed red pepper (you can add more crushed red pepper to increase the heat)
- Spread the onion mixture evenly on the baking sheet.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes, then remove from oven and toss. Bake for another 5-8 minutes, or until onions are golden brown.
Can I Make This in the Air Fryer?
Yes! These can be air fried. To air fry, preheat your air fryer to 425 degrees and then cook onion strings for 4-5 minutes, or until golden browned.
How to Store Leftovers
Leftover onion strings can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator.
I do not recommend freezing onion strings.
