Fact: I will find any excuse to make puppy chow, and Easter is no exception! Puppy chow (aka muddy buddies) is one of my favorite desserts because not only is it so delicious – and addicting – but it’s also really easy to make.

We love making this during one of our Easter baking days where we make other treats like a fun Easter Peeps Pop Tart house and Mini Egg Rocky Road!

To make this a fun Easter muddy buddy variation, I added in some Easter M&Ms and mini marshmallows and it came out perfect!

Ingredients for Bunny Chow

To make this recipe you’ll need:

  • Chex Cereal
  • Peanut Butter (or your favorite nut butter or Nutella)
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Powdered Sugar
  • Easter M&Ms (or pastel colors)
  • Mini Marshmallows

How to Make Easter Bunny Chow

Combine the chocolate chips and peanut butter in a microwave safe bowl and microwave in 30 second increments (stir in between) until completely melted (it took me about a minute for it to completely melt)

Pour the chex cereal into a ziploc bag, and then add the peanut butter chocolate mix. Seal the bag and shake until all the cereal is completely covered.

Open the bag and add in about half of the powdered sugar. Seal the bag and shake until the cereal is covered. Pour in the remainder of the powdered sugar, seal the bag and shake again.

Pour the cereal mix into a bowl and mix in the M&Ms and mini marshmallows and serve!

Recipe Variations

This recipe is super easy to customize. A few of my favorite ways are:

  • Swap out the peanut butter for nutella
  • Instead of Easter M&Ms, try adding in mini cadbury eggs
  • Sprinkles are a fun way to make this extra festive
