Cycling Shoes
This is a must have for the Peloton bike because it’s how how clip into the bike. The Peloton requires Delt Lock cleats or you could buy a separate accessory to attach a toe cage so you can use any sneaker. I bought my cycling shoes in the Peloton bike package I got, but you can also buy them on Amazon.
Comfortable Socks
This was the trickiest for me to figure out when I first got my bike. I love running in FitSocks but I found those socks were way too thick for my cycling shoes. I tried some cheap socks from Target that were thin, but they’d get holes super easily.
When I asked for recommendations on a cycling sock I was told to try Bombas socks. I was hesitant at first since they’re a little pricey but I have found they’ve made a huge difference. I love that they also come with a lifetime warranty for pretty much everything so they’ll be around for a while. I’ve been cycling in mine for a few months now and
Heart Rate Monitor
A heart rate monitor is essential if you want to get an accurate read on your calorie burn. Without a heart rate monitor the bike uses a generic formula to guesstimate burn, which usually ends up being overstated.
I heard a lot of mixed reviews about the Peloton heart rate monitor so decided to skip it and go with one with better reviews. After reading reviews online I got the Scosche Rhythm+ Heart Rate Monitor and it’s worked great. It was really easy to pair and it lasts me about 2 weeks on a single charge.

Water Bottles
A reusable water bottle is a must! The Peloton bike has 2 water bottle holders so you’ll want to get one that fits inside there. My favorite workout water bottle are by the brand S’well. They fit perfectly in the holders and they keep water cool all workout long.
Quality Towels
I tried to get cheap workout towels when I first got my bike and quickly regretted that when they started falling apart. You’ll be sweating a lot so it’s worth the investment into quality towels like this one.
Yoga Mat
A yoga mat essential for stretching, strength workouts, yoga, etc.
Dumbbells
The Peloton bike packages include a set of light dumbbells but I quickly realized I needed more if I wanted to do some of the strength classes. I recommend having sets of:
- 5lbs
- 10lbs
- 15lbs
- 20lbs
I prefer individual dumbbells over adjustable ones like the Bowflex dumbbells because they’re quicker to swap between weights. I really like this set on Amazon because it has all the weights you need and it comes with a stand to keep them organized.
Bluetooth Headphones
A good pair of bluetooth (waterproof!!) headphones are important to have, especially if you need to be quiet while using the bike. I recommend a pair of Apple AirPod Pros (not the regular ones…those aren’t waterproof, I found out the hard way 🙁 ) because they’re super comfortable and really make you feel like you’re live in the studio.
