When I was pregnant with my daughter I craved ALL the gummy bears! I seriously could not get enough of them.
However I knew all the extra sugar wasn’t good for me so I wanted to find a way to make a healthier version of my favorite snack.
After a few tests, these gummy bears were created! Using only 3 ingredients you can easily make your own gummy bears at home for a fraction of the calories (and price!).
Equipment Needed
Ingredients
- 1 packet Sugar-Free Jell-O (any flavor)
- 2 packets unflavored gelatin mix packets
- 1/3 cup water
How to Make Homemade Gummy Bears
In a medium sauce pan, add water and then mix in the jello and gelatin. Set heat to medium and gently mix until the jello and gelatin are dissolved.
Using a dropper, put mix evenly into the molds.
Allow to cool in the refrigerator for 30-40 minutes until the molds are set.
How to Store Leftovers
Leftover gummy bears (if there are any!) should be stored in an airtight container in the refigerator for up to 5 days.
I do not recommend freezing gummy bears.
Recipe Tips and Variations
This recipe can also be made with regular Jell-O at a 1:1 ratio
Mix together different Jell-O flavors to create unique combinations
To make sour gummy bears, add in a little (1/4 tsp) citric acid
Use different molds to make fun shapes! I like these fun zoo animals and dinosaur molds.

Hi
I will be making this recipe tomorrow
I will be using regular jello
What 1:1 ratio mean ?
Replace regular box of Jello for the sugar free Jello. It’s that simple ??
Hi
Do I put citric acid in the pot
And Do I roll the gummy candy in citric acid and sugar I’m new
Thank you for this EASY recipe! I made it with my 11 year old buddy and it was fun and simple! We used molds for leggo pieces and they came out great!
Yay I’m glad you liked it! 🙂 What a great idea using lego molds!!
Hi! Is it possible to do this in the microwave? I work at a day care and would like to do this with my class, but we don’t have a stove, just a microwave.
That’s a really great question! I haven’t tried it before, but I looked into it and it looks like you can microwave jello! I’d follow these instructions for microwave: https://canyoumicrowavethis.com/so-can-you-microwave-that-jell-o-answered/
