How to Use Peloton at The Gym
Peloton recently released new Gym-specific workouts that allow you to use Peloton at the Gym!
While you’ve always been able to stream Peloton workouts at the gym, these new gym specific workouts are slightly different than the traditional Peloton workouts that are on the treadmill, Peloton bike, and rower.
In this blog post I’ll walk through how to use Peloton at the gym for running, cycling and strength workouts.

Using Peloton at the gym is a great way to mix up your workout routine and challenge yourself in new ways. The variety of classes available, from high-intensity intervals to strength training, allows for a well-rounded fitness experience.
Plus, with the ability to stream through the app, you have access to your workouts wherever you go so you can keep your Peloton streak going.
Using Peloton at the Gym
There are a few different ways to use Peloton at the gym.
For cardio based workouts like Running and Cycling classes, you can do these classes by streaming them through the app.
While you’ll have access to the class, you won’t have access to metrics like Output, Leaderboard ranking, Power Zone Bar or Strive score (unless you’re able to connect a heart rate monitor – like an Apple Watch – to your phone).
Classes that are taken through the app still count towards milestones and badges, as well as any streaks you have going.
You can also use Peloton at the gym for strength training and Boot Camp classes.
Similar to on the tread and spin bike, you won’t have access to metrics but you’ll still be able to do the classes and get credit.

However a new feature Peloton recently rolled out is gym specific workout program that’s designed to be done at the gym.
Peloton Gym
Peloton Gym is a new section of the app with gym specific workouts. You can find the workouts under the Workout Section of the app, and filter to Gym.
These workouts are different than traditional workouts because instead of having a video with an instructor to watch, the workout is self guided.
The workouts are created by the Peloton instructors and include tips and tricks for the workout.
Equipment Needed
Before starting the workout you’ll be able to preview the moves and what equipment you’ll need.
Peloton also has a filter available so you can filter the workouts to only show the ones with the equipment you have access to.
Currently, the workouts include using this equipment:
- Light Dumbbells
- Medium Dumbbells
- Heavy Dumbbells
- Pull Up Bar
- Workout Mat
- Bench
- No Equipment

For weights, the instructor notes include what they use when they do this workout so you can either follow along or use your own preferred weights.
Peloton Gym Workouts
The Peloton Gym workouts are set up to where you do a few circuits of different moves.
The workouts are broken up like the strength workouts to target different different body areas including upper body, lower body, full body and core.
When you start a gym workout, a timer will begin. You then move through the circuits and follow along with how many rounds to do.
Join our Peloton Facebook Group!
Each move includes a demo video so if you’re unsure how to do it you can watch a video to see exactly how it’s done.
Once you complete a circuit you can swipe and mark it done. Once the last circuit is done, you can mark the workout complete.
My Experience with Working Out with Peloton at the Gym
I’ve been using Peloton at the gym for a few years now and love having the option.
While I would love to be able to get in all my workouts on my Bike and Treadmill, sometimes I need to get my workouts in before my kids wake up so have to take the workout to the gym.
I find the workouts are just as tough at the gym as they are at home so I’m still able to get a similar workout! I do miss seeing my Power Zones and having output, but I’m able to use perceived effort to gauge my workout and follow along.
Peloton Gym workouts have been a fun new way to get in strength training. I’ve done a few of them and like the flexibility they give me.
The only downside so far with Peloton gym is that there aren’t built in modifications so I have to sometimes get creative on moves I might be uncomfortable with – like the pull up bar.

Another addition I wish they’d make is the ability to track the weights I use. I would love to be able to come back to the workout in a month or so and see my progress over time.
Peloton Gym Membership
The Peloton Gym membership is included in your digital app membership.
If you have a Peloton Bike, Tread, Rower or Guide this is all included in your membership.
Peloton Workouts at the Hotel Gym
If you’re lucky to stay at one of the hotels that has a Peloton bike available, you can use that to do your workout.
On the screen you’ll be able to log into your Peloton account and get credit for your workout!
If you’re not a member you can also ride as a guest and still get the full experience.
Peloton Bikes at the hotel are a little different than at home Pelotons because they don’t require specific cycling shoes to ride. They have cages on them so you can wear any sneaker.
Peloton bikes are free to use at hotels if you’re a member or a guest.
Peloton Workouts at AirBnB
If you’re renting an AirBnB or VRBO with a Peloton Bike you’ll still be able to use it, but won’t be able to get credit for the workouts under your leaderboard name.
