I Tried the Alexia Clark App for 3 Months and Here’s What Happened
One of my favorite things to do is try out new apps and workouts, and today I’m here to share a new app review – my experience with the Alexia Clark App!
I’ve been on the search the past few months for what felt like a unicorn of an app. I’m still working with my running coach, but a few days a week she wanted me to do strength training. I tried to do some classes at Life Time Fitness, but I found a lot of them were more cardio based and I was looking for more strength training focused.
I started to see on Facebook an app by the personal trainer Alexia Clark, and decided to give it a try. I’ve been using the workout app for almost three months now and in this post I’ll share with you everything you need to know before you subscribe!

What is the Alexia Clark App?
The Alexia Clark App is an app created by the personal trainer Alexia Clark. The app provides a daily workout that can be done either at the gym or at home.
The app has new workouts that are uploaded each day for each of the three workout programs available. The app also includes both home and gym versions, as well as modification for each of the moves.
How Does the App Work?
When you download the app, you’re brought to a screen to select the program you’d like to do. There are 3 different options – foundation, split and signature (more on that in the next section).
You can switch between programs at any time so you can view the programs to get a feel for it before committing.

Once you select your program, a new workout will appear every day. Click on the workout and you can see the equipment needed,
Workout Programs
There are currently three workout programs available:
- Signature Program
- Split Program
- Foundation
Signature
The Signature Program is what Alexia is known for. This program is a training program that mixes a few styles of workouts that mix compound moves that challenge strength, balance and stamina. The workouts are a mix of full body, upper body, lower body and then a “Wild Card” workout that blends all the workouts of the week together.
The Signature program also has a monthly challenge round, where participants will do an extra round targeting one area. This month’s challenge is a booty challenge so you’ll find a lot of glute focused moved.
Split
The Split program is a program that splits the week into different body focus groups. There are workouts dedicated to upper body, lower body, and core.
Foundation
The Foundation program is best for those that are just starting out with strength training or working out. The workout focuses on the basics and starts out with a 5 day program that can be done at home or at the gym.
What I Liked About Alexia Clark App
Fun Workouts
One of the things that really stood out to me about this app is how fun and challenging the workouts are. Each workout is designed to keep you engaged and motivated, which makes it easier to stick with your fitness journey. I’m actually starting to look forward to my strength training days!
In the past I’d become discouraged with strength training programs that would include really complex movements that I just couldn’t get the hang of. Alexia’s workouts are challenging, but still doable and don’t require any fancy equipment or complicated moves.
Easily Customizable
The workouts are very customizable. Each day, there’s an option to do the gym or home version of the workout, and then within those workouts you can even select if you want a move modified.
This has been very helpful for me when my gym has been busy. I tend to opt to do the home version of the workouts because my gym is usually really busy and it’s hard to get to the machines or get a workout bench.

Before I start I’m able to take a look at all the moves and equipment needed and adjust any moves if needed. The app has a toggle for each move that you can switch between 2 similar moves that target the same muscle group. Once you make your selection the app will keep it during the workout.

App is Beautiful and Well Thought Out
The app is not only very aesthetically pleasing but it’s also well thought out. It has everything you need all inside the app!
Before you start a workout you can preview the moves – each move has a demo video, that will also play while you’re doing the move – as well as see all the equipment you need. You’re also able to customize how many circuits you do and rounds, which is a nice feature if you’re crunched on time. The app will provide an estimate of how long the workout will take so you can adjust accordingly.

When you’re in the workout, the app will do everything for you. If it’s a timed move, the app will display the time remaining. If it’s a counted rep, the app will display the rep range to target. In between sets the app will keep track of your rest and tell you when it’s time to start again.
Tracks My Progress
One of my favorite features is that I’m able to track my reps and weights after each round. Not only does it track my workout, but the next time I do these moves the app shows me the weights I previously used!
I love this because it helps me increase my weights over time instead of always grabbing the same weight sets.

One thing to note is that the app only tracks weights at this time and not resistance bands. It would be great in the future to be able to track the color of the resistance band you use so you know when to progress with those exercises.
Helpful Support
When I first started using the app I wasn’t sure what program to pick and the support team was able to help me figure that out. I’ve also had some random glitchs with the app crashing and support was very to fix the issue for me.
Amazing Community
The community is extremely active and very supportive on Facebook. I wanted to talk to other runners using the app and was able to connect and hear how they used the program, which was very helpful to me creating my schedule!

Beginner Friendly
I’ve been doing strength training for a few years, but I like to stick to basic moves and more dumbbell moves. I’ve found the app sticks to more basic movements and if there is a more complex move in the program, there’s always a modification move that can be done.
What I Didn’t Like About Alexia Clark App
App Can Be Glitchy
I’ve had a few problems with the app crashing or the timer going really slow. I reached out to support about this and they were able to fix the app within a week.
Pricey
The app is on the pricer side when it comes to workout programs. The app costs $29.99 a month or $180 a year for a membership.
Nutrition
I’m not sure this is really a negative but I was underwhelmed with the nutrition piece of the app and it’s more that it’s just not my eating style. The app features a breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack ideas and recipes that are mostly plant based.

The recipes do include how to add in meat into each one, but in general the recipes are ones that just don’t appeal to my family. The meal plans also aren’t customized for your nutrition needs or goals, so you’ll need to adjust portions depending on your individual goals.
How I Use The App with Running
Thanks for the very helpful app community, I was able to figure out how to add in the app into my workout routine.
I currently am training for a marathon so I have training runs 4 days a week. My running coach has scheduled me to have two strength training days, so my weeks usually look something like this:
- Monday: 1 mile warmup and strength training
- Tuesday: 7 miles easy
- Wednesday: Rest Day
- Thursday: 9 miles speed workout
- Friday: 1 mile warmup and strength training
- Saturday: 6 miles easy
- Sunday: 12 mile progression run
I am using the Signature Program for my strength training. On Monday I will do the weekly full body workout and on Fridays I do the weekly upper body workout.
I’ve found that this is a really good balance for me and has been helping my running. I know I probably should do full body strength training both days, but upper body workouts are my favorite so I like to mix those in too.
Who Should Use Alexia Clark App?
The Alexia Clark App is best for anyone that is looking to get into strength training. If you’re looking to do this as your primary workout or as a supplement to another workout (like running), these workouts can be fit into any schedule.
The programs all have both gym and home version so you don’t need a gym membership to get started. There’s also a section with travel workouts that can be done on vacation or when you travel and don’t have access to equipment.
Who Should NOT Use Alexia Clark App
You shouldn’t sign up for the Alexia Clark app if you need a lot of guidance with your form or if you’re looking for personalized workouts. While the app does have helpful videos and demonstrations, it won’t keep an eye on your form so you’d be better off with a personal trainer if that’s the case.
Equipment Needed
To use the app you’ll need some basic workout equipment. Each workout won’t use all of them, but it’s good to have on hand for when you do need them. Here are my Amazon Affiliate links to the exact workout gear I use:
- Reebok Deck (or bench)
- Dumbbells
- Resistance Bands
- Resistance Loops
The gym program will also use equipment like medicine balls, barbells, cable machines, and more. However if your gym doesn’t have this equipment – or if it’s super busy and you can’t use it – the app will include modifications.
Types of Exercises
Each workout is different, but the types of exercises in a circuit are usually:
- Bicep Curls
- Squats
- Dips
- Burpees
- Mountain Climbers
- Push Ups
- Ice Skaters
- Planks
- Deadlifts

How to Sign Up
To sign up for the app, you can sign up through the app store or on Alexia Clark’s website. They usually have a free week trial so you can get a feel for it before committing to it.
