Instant Pot Easter Eggs

It’s no secret that I love making hard boiled eggs in my Instant Pot (I eat them every day!), so this year with Easter right around the corner I decided to use this method to decorate our Easter Eggs.

These Instant Pot Easter eggs came out perfect! I loved being able to cook up all 12 eggs at once and having them ready for dying quickly. Plus they’re really easy to peel once we’re ready to eat them!

Equipment Needed

To make Easter Eggs in the Instant Pot, you’ll need:

You could also use an egg holder accessory if you have it. I don’t own the egg holder so use my trivet and the eggs come out perfect.

How to Make Instant Pot Easter Eggs

  1. Pour 1 cup of water in the bottom of the Instant Pot (if you’re using an 8 QT Instant Pot, use 1 ½ cups water instead of 1 cup)
  2. Place the trivet or hard boiled egg rack into the Instant Pot and carefully place as many eggs as you’d like to make on top of the trivet.
  3. Seal the Instant Pot and set to Manual High Pressure for 5 minutes (it’ll take about 5 minutes to come to pressure).
  4. Once the Instant Pot is done cooking, allow it to naturally release for 5 minutes. While the Instant Pot is naturally releasing, fill a bowl with cold water and ice cubes.
  5. After 5 minutes of naturally releasing the pressure, quick release the remainder of the pressure. Take the eggs out of the Instant Pot and carefully place in the ice water.
  6. While the eggs are cooling, prepare the egg dyes according to the package instructions.
  7. Once eggs are cooled, remove from water and dry with a paper towel. Dye and decorate according to the egg kit package instructions.

How to Store Instant Pot Easter Eggs

After I dye the eggs I like to store them back in the egg carton they came with so any extra dye can drip off and not stain my fridge (and not get on the other eggs). Easter Eggs will stay fresh for up to 5 days in the fridge.

Can I Eat Dyed Easter Eggs

This can be a little tricky. If you dye Easter Eggs with food safe dyes (like the kind they sell at the store) and store them in the fridge, then yes, Easter Eggs will be safe to use.

If you plan to use these Easter Eggs outside for an Easter Egg hunt then I don’t recommend eating afterwards
