I've been a member at Lifetime Fitness for a few years now and have found that it really depends on how you will use the membership to determine if it's actually worth signing up for.

Having had the experience of being a member at Lifetime Fitness myself at a few different club levels, I can say that its value will bedetermined by how actively and purposefully you use the facilities and services.
It's not a one-size-fits-all answer; it's about matching the gym's offerings with your personal fitness goals and routine.
Is a Lifetime Fitness Membership Worth it?
To figure out if a Lifetime Fitness membership is right for you, you want to think about what you'll be using the membership for.
Are you interested in taking the studio classes?
Do you need child care while you work out?
Will you need a locker room with full amenities like towels, showers, shampoo, soap, etc. provided?
Do you need a lap pool? Hot Tub? Sauna?
All of these things are things you will want to consider before signing up for a Lifetime Fitness membership.
Every club is different, so before you sign up you'll want to do a tour of the club you plan to become a member of to determine if it has the amenities you want as well as if it's open the hours you'll need it to be.

Will you be using all those amenities to make paying the monthly fee worth it?
Membership Tiers and Costs
Lifetime Fitness isn't just a one-package deal.
They offer various membership tiers, each with its own set of perks and price tags. Depending on the level you choose, you'll have access to more advanced classes, better equipment, and access to different clubs.
You'll want to balance cost with your actual needs.
If you’re an avid swimmer, for instance, it might be worth considering a higher-tier membership that ensures pool access. On the other hand, if you’re just in for the basic gym facilities, the entry-level option might be more your speed.
Evaluating the Club's Classes and Personal Trainin
A significant advantage of Lifetime Fitness is their diverse range of classes.
From group classes like yoga and pilates to HIIT and spin, there's something for everyone.
They also have small group fitness called GTX classes that are similar to Orangetheory.
But the question is, will you be attending them?
Classes can be a major pull for many members, providing structured workouts and the motivation of a group setting. But if you're the type to fly solo or if you already have a strict regimen you adhere to, these might not be a big draw for you.
Also sometimes these classes are held at limited times, so make sure you check the club's schedule to see if you can attend those class times.
Similarly, personal training can be a great asset for those looking for specialized guidance, but it's an additional cost.
Consider if this is something you see value in.
Location and Proximity
No matter how fantastic a gym is, if it's too far out of your way, chances are you won't be going as often as you should.
Think about the club’s location concerning your home or workplace.
If it's on your daily route, that's a bonus. If it requires a detour, consider how feasible that is in the long run.
Also consider the location of the club and the parking situation. If your club is in a downtown area you'll need to add on the additional expense of parking if the club doesn't have parking available.
Community and Culture
Every gym has its own vibe. Some are hardcore, with members who are intensely focused on their workouts. Others have a more relaxed, community-driven atmosphere.
During your club tour, try to get a sense of the place's culture.
Is it somewhere you’d feel comfortable and motivated?
Do the members seem friendly?
Is the staff attentive and professional?
Similarly, if you plan on using the Kid's Academy (the childcare program at Lifetime), make sure to get a feel for the vibe there and see if it's something you're comfortable sending your kid to.
How I Decided it Was Worth It
Over the years I've been an on and off member at Life Time Fitness. Before having kids I used to go regularly to the gym and participate in the run club.
I ended up taking a break when I moved and canceled my Lifetime Fitness membership.
However, years later, and now that I have 2 kids, Lifetime Fitness has become an incredible resource for me. My kids love going to Kid's Academy and participating in their classes and I love the facilities.
The club has virtually everything I need like group classes, spa, and even just the cafe for when I want to hang out for a few kid-free moments.
The membership is pricier when compared to other facilities, however my family and I are using the membership nearly every day, and to me, that makes it worth it.
