Lunii My Fabulous Storyteller Review
Ever since my daughter turned 3, she’s been really into books, creating stories, and listening to stories. That’s why, when I first heard about Lunii My Fabulous Storyteller for kids, it seemed like a great fit. It allows my daughter to enjoy stories and be creative without the use of screens!
In this post, I’ll share our experience and review of Lunii and if it’s worth checking out!
Lunii provided us a storyteller to review but all opinions are our own!

What is Lunii?
Lunii is an innovative new audio storyteller for kids that combines the best of both worlds with digital technology. The device comes with 45 stories that kids can customize, as well as hundreds more that can be purchased in their store.
Lunii reminds me of those Choose Your Own Adventure books except in audio form. There are 45 stories (and even more on their store) where at certain parts of the stories kids can choose between 3-5 different preset paths that will lead to different endings.
The Lunii also comes preloaded with stories in English,Spanish and French and it charges with a micro-USB so no batteries required!
Unboxing the Lunii
Inside the Lunii box is the Lunii Storyteller as well as a USB cord to charge and connect the device. There’s also a small instruction booklet, as well as instructions to set up the device inside the box.
Setting it Up
Setting up the Lunii was a little confusing at first. Inside the box, the instructions read:
- Go to Lunii.com
- Download Luniistore
- Create your account
- Download your stories for free
It seemed simple enough.
Once I got the app store downloaded from Lunii.com(there’s no website – you need to download software for it), I set up an account and loaded the app store. The app store contained more stories that I could download that ranged in price from $.99 and up. I was a little disappointed because the box said “Download Your Stories for Free”, but the stories actually cost money. I guess technically it is true – you can download them for free, but you need to buy them in the first place. It’s a little misleading.
I decided not to download any stories and unplugged the Lunii and turned it on. I realized that right out of the box it’s actually preloaded with 45 stories so I actually didn’t need to download the Luniistore after all.
Using the Lunii
When I gave my daughter the Lunii I really had no idea what to expect. However, after showing her 1-2 times how to use it she figured it out and LOVED it. She really liked choosing different characters on the box (it lights up when you make a selection) and scrolling through the different story options.
Listening to the actual story took some work, though. In the first story, she tried to listen to she said “was too long” and she lost attention after about 3 minutes. I’ll admit the stories are a little long for young kids with limited attention spans, but for older kids, I’m sure they’d be fine.
After playing with the Lunii for a bit she did end up listening to the entire stories and always looked forward to the parts where she could use the dial and choose what happened next.

Lunii Review
Overall we really like the Lunii. It took a bit for my daughter to listen to a whole story, but she likes customizing the stories with different characters and walking around with the speaker. I like that she’s reading more and is really into technology, so it kind of bridges the gap between the two.
The device also has a headphone jack so if you’re traveling kids can still use it without annoying people around you. The speaker itself isn’t too loud, but if you’re traveling in a car or plane you might want to make sure you use headphones or earbuds.
Also, I did notice that the battery only lasts about 2-3 hours before needing more juice. If your child listens to more than two stories in a row, it might be necessary to plug the device into an outlet (using the included USB cord) while they listen.
I’ve been pretty impressed with the battery life so far. My daughter’s a typical toddler and turns on the Lunii and forgets to turn it off but somehow the battery doesn’t drain.

Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a unique gift or toy for a kid, consider the Lunii My Fabulous Storyteller. It provides tons of entertainment and hours of creativity for kids!
Lunii My Fabulous Storyteller can be purchased at Amazon or Target.
It is a very creative toy, but be prepared for it to break. A LOT. Then you are trapped because you have spent the money on the stories but the machine doesn’t work. Sure you can get it repaired- if it is within the warranty time- but that takes time and effort- because you need to send it! We have 4 and every single one has broken as well as the headphones. Also during covid I could not go to the post office and the warranty ran out so I could not return it. We really do love the luny stories but now have moved onto a Yoto which seems much sturdier for small hands. Please Lunii make a higher quality toy!!!!!
