What’s a Peloton Apple Ring Challenge (and How to Join!)
If you’ve been in a Peloton facebook group you’ve probably noticed around the first of the month a call for people to participate in an Apple Ring Challenge. My friends were always participating in them and raving about them so a few months ago I decided to invest in an Apple Watch so I could join in on the fun!
Here’s an inside look at what the challenge is, how to participate, and everything you need to know about the challenges!
What is An Apple Ring Challenge?
Apple Ring Challenges are challenges different Peloton groups run through the free app “Challenges”. The group will give you a 4 letter code and once you enter it into the app and it’ll add you to that group’s challenge.
Inside the challenge you’ll be able to join a team with 3 other friends (or join a random team), or some challenges lately have given the option to compete on your own.

What’s the Goal of the Challenge?
Ultimately, the goal of the challenge is to be the team with the most points. You get points by closing your apple rings – which include stand, exercises and calories burned.
How to Earn Points
Points can be earned in the following ways every day:
Move – Earn 12 points each time you achieve your move goal (when you set up your profile it’ll have you create a custom move goal based on your weight, which is defaulted at 2x your weight).
Exercise – Earn 12 points for 30 minutes of exercise a day
Stand – Earn 1 point for every hour you stand, for a maximum of 14
Ring Bonus Points – When you close all 3 of your rings, you’ll earn an extra 12 points as a completion bonus
Ring Bonus Points – When you close all 3 of your rings and another team member closes theirs, you’ll earn an extra 4 points per teammate. A maximum of 12 extra points (if you’re competing in a competition with solo members the team bonus won’t be applicable)
So if you close all your rings, and your team closes all theirs, you can earn a maximum of 110 points every day.
How to Win a Challenge
The team with the most amount of points at the end of the month is the winner of team challenge. There are often super competitive teams with max points everyday so ties are pretty common.

Peloton Apple Rings Challenge Review
I participated in a few challenges and have found that they’re a really fun way to stay motivated and on track with goals! I’ve joined both random teams and teams with my Peloton friends and found teams with my friends were a lot more fun since we could have a group message going to encourage each other.
I did stop participating once I got pregnant because I found I put a lot of pressure on myself to get perfect scores on my rings every day. It was easy at the beginning, but weekends started getting tough to get in 30 minutes of dedicated exercise every day.

Conclusion
The Apple Ring challenge is a fun way to stay motivated with your fitness goals! It’s fun to see how everyone else on the challenge does each day by following their progress live – it really helps me push myself when I don’t feel as motivated. It can get a little overwhelming if you’re trying to close your rings perfectly every day and get the maximum points but overall it’s a fun experience.

Why Am I Missing Points Overnight?
There’s been a random weird glitch where one day you’ll have maximum points, and then when you log in the next day some exercise minutes are missing. One of my friends had this happen often and she believes it has something to do with her time zone. To be safe, she’ll do extra minutes exercising instead of the default 30 minutes so she has some buffer.
