My Peloton Tread Delivery Experience

It’s here! My Peloton treadmill has finally arrived and I am so excited!

Originally I was planning on waiting for the Tread+ to. be re-released, but after talking with customer service and learning they wouldn’t be re-released this year – and possibly not until later 2022 – I decided to order the Tread to replace my 10+-year-old Proform. I’m going to need something for this winter and my old Proform tread has started having issues. But I really can’t complain since I got so many years out of that treadmill!

In this blog post, I’ll share my experience with ordering and the delivery of the new Peloton Tread.

Ordering the Tread

Treadmill orders started on August 30, but I was indecisive when they re-opened if I wanted to get it. Part of me wanted to wait for the new Tread+ but also I didn’t want to wait until 2022 to get it.

After talking with my husband and reading all about the Tread in Facebook groups, I decided to order it on Friday, September 3. I decided to just get the Tread and no extra accessory packages since I already have weights, a heart rate monitor, and headphones. After taxes and everything, my Tread came out to be $2,682.

I ended up doing Affirm again for my payments (can’t beat 0 interest!) and I did notice they changed the process since I originally ordered my bike last summer. When I originally ordered my bike, the Affirm loan started 30 days after you ordered – even if you didn’t get the bike.

With the Tread, however, the loan was pending until Peloton scheduled my delivery. Once Peloton scheduled my delivery my loan began and the first payment is due 1 month from that date.

Since I’ve already financed my bike with Affirm, the process for applying for the loan was super quick and easy. I think all in it took about 2 minutes to apply. They already had all my info on file so all I had to do was read the contract and agree. So easy!

Scheduling Delivery

Once my order was placed, I had to wait for Peloton to schedule delivery. This wait felt like forever! In the confirmation, e-mail Peloton sent a tracking link so I could kind of track the status, but it didn’t really update much. The only new info I got from the tracking link was that Peloton would be delivering my treadmill and not a third-party provider like XPO or JB Hunt.

After a week I got an e-mail saying that it was almost time to schedule my delivery. In some Facebook groups, people reported that once they got that e-mail it would be a few hours before getting the scheduling e-mail so I was super excited.

Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case for me. I ended up waiting another week before getting the scheduling e-mail. Once the scheduling e-mail came in it allowed me to schedule delivery as soon as the following Thursday! I had to select a 2-hour block and decided to do a morning Thursday slot.

A few days before delivery I did get an e-mail that said Get Ready for Your Delivery, and it had an activation code. The delivery team never asked for this info when they arrived so I’m not sure what the point of it was.

Tread Delivery

I had heard others received a phone call the day before delivery, but I never ended up getting a call. My time slot was between 10-12, and around 10:30 I got a call from the delivery driver that they were about 20 minutes away!

Sure enough, in 20 minutes Peloton arrived with my tread! I was really hoping the Tread would be delivered in the Peloton truck like my Bike had been, but they showed up in an unmarked van. Oh well!

There were 2 delivery guys that came and once I showed them where I wanted the Tread to be installed, they said it’d be about 45 min for them to assemble it. They did ask for us to write down our Wifi info so they could get the Tread connected to our Peloton account.

Sure enough, about 45 minutes after they arrived they called me downstairs to show me how to use the Tread! I also really liked that while the Tread came in multiple boxes, the team took those with them so I didn’t have to worry about breaking them down and getting rid of them.

The team showed me how to use the Tread and went over all the safety features. They also showed me how to make adjustments to the belt if I needed to, and what tools to use to do this.

What Comes with The Tread

When the Tread is delivered, you’ll also receive a tool kit to make adjustments to the tread. I was a little surprised the kit didn’t come with lubricant for the belt since this is something you’ll need to do every year. The delivery guy said they might send a team out to lubricate the belts, but Peloton wasn’t 100% sure yet.

Testing Out the Tread

After walking through the maintenance, the team walked me through how to use the Tread. After a quick demo and testing out the Tread, the team asked if I had any additional questions. I didn’t at the time, but they told me that if I thought of anything or noticed anything that I could give them a call using the phone number they had called from earlier. I thanked them and did tip them $20 each before they left.

In total, I think it was about an hour for the whole assembly and walkthrough and then my Tread was ready to be used!

How to Prepare for Delivery

If you’ve ordered the Tread, here are a few ways to prepare for delivery:

Clean out the area you want the Tread installed – make sure the path is clear for the delivery team, as well as you have space where you want the Tread to be assembled.

Have Wifi Written Down – Write down the Wifi Network Name and Password for the team to set up the Tread

Have a Tip Ready – if you’re planning to tip the delivery drivers, have cash ready to tip the drivers. I did $20 each.

Final Thoughts

Ordering and getting the Tread was really easy and much quicker than when I had ordered my Peloton bike! While it did take few weeks to get the Tread into my home, it wasn’t too long of a wait and it was definitely worth it!

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I Tip Delivery Drivers?

I do recommend tipping the delivery team. I usually do $20 each

How to Tell Who is Delivering Your Tread

When you order your Tread you’ll get e-mailed a link

Do I Need A Second Peloton Membership?

If you already have a Peloton Membership for the Bike, you can use that on your Tread at no additional cost! Once the Tread is set up, you can log into your account on the Tread.

Can Peloton Take My Old Tread?

Unfortunately Peloton can’t take any old equipment you have. You’ll have to find another way to dispose of it – like trying to sell it on Facebook marketplace or disposing it using a company like 1-800-GotJunk.
