Slate Milk Review
We all know chocolate milk is delicious, but it’s also usually loaded with sugar and calories.
Chocolate milk has been a staple growing up for me. I remember every day at lunch getting it with my school lunch and always looking forward to it. There was nothing more refreshing than a glass of chocolate milk!
But with the high amount of sugar and calories, it wasn’t always the healthiest option.
Slate Milk is a new healthier alternative to traditional chocolate milk that has 75% less sugar than regular chocolate milk, is lactose-free, and is packed with protein. But how does it taste?
Slate Milk sent me a sample pack to try out and in this blog post I’ll share with you my honest thoughts on the milk and if it’s worth buying.
Disclosure: Slate Milk did provide samples for me to review but all opinions are my own.

What is Slate Milk?
Slate Milk is a chocolate milk product that claims to be healthier than traditional milk.
Unlike regular chocolate milk, Slate milk is lactose-free, has 20g of protein, 0 grams of sugar and contains vitamins and electrolytes.
Slate Milk filters their milk to remove lactose sugars and then adds in a little water to bump up the protein.
To sweeten the milk, they blend it with allulose, a low-calorie natural sugar that’s normally found in figs and maple syrup.
Slate Milk Review
When I first received my samples of Slate Milk, I instantly was attracted to the packaging.
The drinks come in really sleek cans – kind of similar to Red Bull ones and definitely gave off more of an adult vibe.
This clearly wasn’t the same chocolate milk I drank as a kid!
The drinks they sent weren’t refrigerated but they recommend drinking them cold so I put them into the fridge to cool down a bit.
While I waited, I looked up on their site to see if it was safe to drink since they did arrive warm and I was surprised to learn that their drinks don’t require any refrigeration at all!
They do recommend drinking them cold for best taste, but they’re also safe to drink not refrigerated.
I let the milk cool for a few hours before trying it out. The first one I tried was their regular chocolate milk.
I found the milk was smooth and creamy, but not heavy and slightly thinner texture than the Fairlife Protein milk I had been drinking lately.
Overall it tasted really good!
The next one I tried was the double chocolate. This one was also very smooth but tasted a little thicker and richer than the regular chocolate milk.
It was good but it did leave me feeling a little full afterward.
The last one I tried was the espresso. The taste reminded me of coffee milk (remember that?!!), with a hint of chocolate in it.
I really liked that it not only had the protein boost that the other milk had, but it also had 150 mg of caffeine in it so it could completely replace my afternoon coffee.
Each can contains 11 oz of milk, which I found to be the perfect amount.
Overall I really liked all 3 versions of the milk and I would recommend checking them out. The milk taste just like the chocolate milk you remember from when you were a kid, but are loaded with more protein and less sugar.
These drinks are a really good option to have after a workout or as an afternoon pick me up.

Slate Milk is a healthier alternative to regular chocolate milk. The milk is more filtered so it doesn’t contain any lactose, and it uses natural sugars instead of cane sugar for sweetness.
I also like that unlike regular chocolate milk it is packed with 20g of protein, which makes this perfect as a breakfast drink to bump up your morning protein or to enjoy after a workout.

The chocolate and dark chocolate milk don’t contain any caffeine, but the espresso milk does contain 150 mg of caffeine.
How Much Does it Cost?
Slate Milk is about $3 a can and can be purchased on their website as either a 12 pack, 24 pack or 48 pack.
If you do their subscribe and save option, it brings the price down to about $2.50 a can.
Slate Milk on Shark Tank
I’m a huge fan of Shark Tank and was really excited to learn that Slate Milk was on it (I need to go back and watch it!).
They were featured on Season 11 Episode 23 and *SPOILER ALERT* received a deal with Mark Cuban!
Final Thoughts
Slate Milk is a great alternative to traditional chocolate milk. They have 3 flavors that taste just like chocolate milk but are healthier on your body.
All 3 of the milk taste delicious and are a perfect addition to breakfast or post-workout snacks.

Hi! How does it compare taste-wise to the fairlife protein chocolate milks? Thank as.
I think Fairlife is a little more creamy compared to Slate. They’re both good, but different textures
