In college I was obsessed with Peppermint Mochas from Starbucks but wasn’t a huge fan of how much sugar was in each drink. I was excited when they introduced their skinny version of the syrup…only to be discontinued a few years later. Bummer!

Over the years I started working on how to make my own healthier version of the drink at home and came up with this protein shake. While this version doesn’t have caffeine in it, it’s still the same delicious chocolate and peppermint flavors in a protein packed protein shake. This is the perfect healthy dairy-free, no sugar added protein shake!

To get an extra boost in protein I like to use Ripple Milk, which is a pea protein non dairy milk that’s 8g of protein per cup! If you can’t find Ripple Milk (I find mine at Target and Whole Foods), you can also swap this out for a non dairy milk like almond milk – just note the shake might be a little lower in protein.

Recipe Tips and Tricks

  • If you want the shake to be a little thicker, add in more ice and blend. I found when I add about 8-9 ice cubes it comes out more like a thick Frosty texture (yum!)
  • For extra protein add in 1-2 tbsp of flax seeds
  • I’ve found that adding in the protein powder last helps with everything blending more evenly and not getting powder stuck in the corners of the blender
